Piano Ensembles
The Ohio University Piano Ensemble Project—developed initially in Venezuela by Laura Silva in 2014—aims to promote ensemble, collaborative music making for young piano students. Orchestral scores are arranged for piano at varying levels, both in terms of difficulty and number of performers. Each pianist’s part represents a different section of the orchestra, and percussionists play the symphonic repertoire with the ensemble. Ohio University’s Collegiate Chapter of MTNA is working to introduce piano ensembles to students enrolled in the Athens Community Music School.
